@plaristote: Yup I just used the connman tools and while the output is not exactly the same, the result is similar, unfortunately...I won't have time to dive deeper as I will travel for the next 7 days. However I'm planning to factory reset the device again without installing any droid support and see how it goes for the week. Droid stuff worked for 2-3 weeks following the 3rd update and I wonder if it stopped working soon after updating the mobile data settings...Will let you know if I find anything.
